Document Production Modules to further adapt to your specific needs : Chinese, Arabic or bar-codes.

Chinese printing

ASCII, the regular encoding method used by PCL and your laser printer, is layed on a 8 bits coding capability. As such, it can encode up to 255 characters for a given font.
The amazing number of Chinese ideograms required to produce documents cannot fit into this ASCII limits and thus makes apparently impossible to print on you usual PCL printer.
APPIC considered this fast growing requirement for number of its customers and decided to implement a soft way to give StarPage users a chance to print their Chinese documents without asking printer’s upgrade or adaptation.
The StarPage’ Chinese module is the solution to print, from you UNIX or WINDOWS system, Chinese data the same way you you print all of your business documents. This Chinese module contains both software technology and Chinese special downloadable font to deliver, smothly and seamlessly, your documents to Chinese companies.

Arabic Printing

Arabic means two big issues for any body whishing to print data : first of all, on must print form right to left, i.e. opposite to the occidental way or writing. The second issue is that a given glyph (i.e. the character once printed) is not drawn the same way when the chracter is located inside a word on a the beginning ot the word in which it must be printed.
To give you a way to print Arabic statements inside your UNIX or Windows documents, we’ve set up this module which contains both appropriate downloadable characters font and algorithms.

Bar codes labels

The majority organizations have a requirement to communicate information using bar codes.
Applications are numerous and include shipment labels, the addition of invoice numbers to be stuck onto payment checks and normalized labels such as required within the European automotive industry with Odette.
Whichever your requirement, the use of bar codes can be a significant communication enhancement for your EDP generated information. Data reading is faster, and typographical errors are reduced within your Company and with your commercial partners.

The StarJet document production module gives you the opportunity to add any type of bar codes to your documents ‘on the fly’.
And for data acquisition, the list of supported algorithms is huge: Code 39, 2 of 5, DATAMATRIX, EAN8, Code 93, Code 128, EAN8, EAN13, EAN128, UPC, Postnet are just a few examples.

PDF 417

This new codification system appeared few years ago. Built on more recent technology and using a complex algorithm, the powerful performance characteristics of PDF-417 make this code a ‘must’.
Able to contain a huge quantity of information in a very limited space, it can even contain binary information such a picture! PDF417 also includes an extended data correction capability with the advantage of enhanced information communication security.
With these commanding features, the application domains for PDF417 are almost unlimited (driving licenses, ID cards and products labels…)
Today, StarJet’s document production module includes the algorithm required to use the PDF417 code without modifying one single line of your application program.

Through its StarJet Document Management Suite, APPIC brings you the rare « software only » solution to obtain the full benefit of PDF417 2D bar code by making it readable in almost any circumstances.
